They still have hard time programming so most of them got fired or quit, the remaining ones we keep in the Technology Archaeology section. To the extent that a framework is necessary for an app, it should evolve from it - which means it should be application specific.

For any conceivable application-independent task, you can find a general purpose framework which should be used as the skeleton and scaffolding you build your app around. What framework code you build should be for _your_ app - not somebody else's.

Merciless refactoring and paying attention to the SOLID principles (particularly the 'S' of Single Responsibility) should result in sufficient framework for anyone.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13269312825065842548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2144813210603379421.post-55804752357520060452013-09-25T12:39:06.813+10:002013-09-25T12:39:06.813+10:00true. infact manual refactoring has two advantages...true. infact manual refactoring has two advantages which i can mention right away.
1. you swim through the system every now and then which helps you know every nook of it.
2. if you are doing it as a routine, next time you code, you code it better and more precise.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2144813210603379421.post-15176192259473942712013-09-24T20:44:55.175+10:002013-09-24T20:44:55.175+10:00This certainly does not discourage you from manual...This certainly does not discourage you from manual refactoring. I've seen far more egregious code than enlightening code).

The various processes and methodologies that we employ can definitely help us in the right direction; Agile, TDD, CI, XP and a whole host of other TLAs can help us achieve some level of quality, but it's still ultimately down to the individuals on the team, and the "togetherness" of the team (for want of a better word. I'm trying to avoid using management consultant buzzwords like "synergy").David Keavenyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07944978161341604262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2144813210603379421.post-17859707555108833502011-09-21T10:11:46.155+10:002011-09-21T10:11:46.155+10:00Hi Blaise, my resharper settings match the All-In-...Hi Blaise, my resharper settings match the All-In-One coding framework from Microsoft with a few resharper defaults thrown in.

Nothing new.
